Getting Started with Affiliate Marketing

Tips on how to become a Successful Affiliate Marketer!

There are many types of Affiliate Marketing, you can be affiliates directly for companies like I am currently with Sizzle Slim or you can sign up to become an Affiliate with Amazon or ClickBank where you can write posts on your blog and offer different types of products.

I’ll give you some examples:  I wrote a blog post covering my Kitchen Makeover in this post as an Amazon Affiliate I “linked to” actual products I used in my makeover.  I will also be sharing recipes on my blog like this one Cheeseburger Casserole in this recipe I put links for actual kitchen items people would use to make these recipes.  Now the % you earn as an Amazon Affiliate isn’t really that much but imagine if you had a lot of people ordering products from your blog posts.

For those of you who have a Large Following on Facebook and aren’t using a single platform for sharing to all your social media, you are very limited to only offering products when you post on the Social Media Platform you are using.  Meaning someone who isn’t “following” you or in your “group on Facebook” won’t see any other products you may offer.

Single Platform

I highly suggest getting 1 single Platform, where you do all your posting and then sharing those posts out to your Social Media sites just by 1 click.  The Platform I choose to use is a WordPress Blog and you need to have a Self-Hosted WordPress Blog. GoDaddy offers them for a low monthly fee or if you pay for them all up front for 1 year you save even more!  The Deluxe hosting is the best, but if you are actually going to place anything for sale on your WordPress using your own Shopping Cart in your site (not a PayPal link)  then you will need the one with the SSL certificate.  When you are ordering your WordPress Hosting on GoDaddy, you can pick a domain name at the same time.   You will need to decide how you want to brand yourself.  Do you want to brand yourself as YOU or as YOUR COMPANY.  Do not brand yourself as someone else’s company.  I mean your Niche. (more on this in my Facebook Training Group).

Domain Names

Even if you purchase or use a company name I HIGHLY suggest purchasing your own name as a domain name.  If you become Facebook Famous you don’t want someone else going and buying your name as a domain name and put up some competing product on it.  Example I am branding myself so I am using WendyBongalis.com for this blog, but I also own WendyBongalis-Royer.com which points to my Facebook Fan Page with my name.  Someone else purchased another variation of my name and it points to a product which I would never market!  I am simply pointing this out as you want to own ALL the variations of your name if you are branding yourself.

Things to do:

  1. Before joining any Affiliate Programs, decide how you will brand yourself.  Using your name or your company name.
  2. Buy WordPress Hosting and a Domain Name (1 Hosting and maybe a couple of Domain Names). Click Here: Self-Hosted WordPress Blog
  3. Get an AutoResponder to gather your leads that you will own, not someone else’s company.  If you direct people to another companies site that lead now becomes property of the other company.  There are 3 different ones I recommend. You can visit each one to compare prices and options available to you.   I-Contact, AWeber or GetResponse
